Evan Moorhouse officially named Westfield Starfires’ Director of Baseball Operations
Westfield, MA _The Westfield Starfires have officially named Evan Moorhouse to the position of Director of Baseball Operations.
Moorhouse comes to the Starfires while serving as the Director of Hockey Operations for Women’s Hockey at the University of Vermont. Previously, Moorhouse served in the same role at American International College working for the men’s program. He also spent one season as an Assistant Men’s Hockey Coach at Westfield State University.
A native of Westfield, MA, Moorhouse has played at every level of competitive baseball in the city. As a catcher, he played with Westfield Little League, the inaugural Westfield Wizards (Cooperstown), Westfield Babe Ruth, Westfield American Legion, and Westfield High School. Finally, his baseball tour culminated with four years behind home plate at Westfield State University (while also serving as a member of the men’s hockey program).
“This city and community have molded me into the person I am today, and for that I am forever in debt,” Moorhouse said. “Baseball tradition is rich here. There is no better place in Western Massachusetts to play baseball and I am truly honored for the opportunity to continue being a part of that tradition.”
As Director of Baseball Operations Moorhouse’s duties will include roster management, oversight of internship programs, game day execution and community outreach.
The Westfield Starfires are the newest entry in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), one of the top summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country.
The team plays out of historic Bullens Field in Westfield. The home opener will be on Friday May 31, 2019.
